Your rights as a TTBH client

Tropical Texas Behavioral Health is committed to protecting and respecting your rights as a client. All clients are entitled to the following rights:

Your Rights as a Client

  • Right to Dignity and Respect To be treated with dignity, respect, and consideration for your individual needs and privacy at all times.
  • Right to Privacy To have your personal health information kept private and confidential in accordance with HIPAA and Texas law.
  • Right to Information To receive complete, current information about your diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis in terms you can understand.
  • Right to Participate in Your Care To participate in the development of your individual service plan and to consent to or refuse treatment.
  • Right to Refuse Treatment To refuse any treatment to the extent permitted by law and to be informed of the medical consequences of your decision.
  • Right to Grievances To voice grievances about your care or treatment without fear of retaliation.
  • Right to Freedom from Abuse To be free from mental, physical, sexual, and verbal abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination To receive care without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or payment source.
  • Right to Information About Your Rights To be informed of your rights in advance of or at the point of receiving care.

How to File a Complaint

If you believe your rights have been violated, you may file a complaint without fear of retaliation.
